Graduation trip to Rome (Part 1)

This is a trip we have been planning for a long time. We originally planned to go around Italy, but this proved really expensive so we abandoned the plan. And then we chose our destination. Rome, or as Italians call it Roma!! Unfortunately, this plan was forgot once again. But then, I watched ‘Monte Carlo’. You probably have heard of Selena Gomez where she makes her senior trip to Paris and ends up in Monte Carlo. The thing is that I thought that since they made it work, we definitely could as well. And so here it is! Our journey to Rome, photos, tips, places to go and practically everything you should know in case you plan on visiting :)

Day 1: Arrival 

Nadia wearing her panama hat and holding close to her suitcase. TIP! Make sure you take a hat when packing especially if you plan on visiting Rome in the Summer. Surely you don’t want to have a headache ruining your vacation.

Tickets!! Make sure you book your tickets in advance to take advantage of the low rates. Especially for Rome, for which spring/summer is a pique season and tickets are limited.

Our trip was about 2 hours long, but I guess this varies depending on your starting point. Anyway, we finally we landed and we are super excited!

We wait patiently and head for the hotel.

Tip: There are buses that take you straight to Termini Station for 5 Euros or you can take the train for more or a taxi for even more. I guess it’s up to you.

After we arrived to the hotel we went to dine at a local restaurant, “La bottega del’ caffe’. On average, if you are on a tight budget, your best shot would be a pizza Marguerita, which is around 8 Euros and if you want pasta the prices begin from 9 euros. Plus, plan to spend 4 euros on the cover, 3 Euros on water and whatever tip you plan on giving.

However, the food prices near the sites, e.g. Piazza Navonna, the prices skyrocket, especially if this is gelato where you can pay up 12 Euros for two scoops of ice-cream.

Let the sightseeing begin!

First Stop: Fontana di Trevi

Our first stop was the Trevi Fountain, or as Italians call “Fontana di Trevi”. Of course we made our wishes and had some photos taken by the photographers at the site. 

Second Stop:

Another amazing site is the Pantheon, which is a short walk from the Trevi Fountain. Especially for those who are interested in architecture this is must-see.

You can also enter the Pantheon and sit inside for a while.

Third Stop: Piazza Navona

Piazza Navona is basically a great place to hang out, with beautiful cafes and restaurants. The only thing to consider is the prices, which are quite high around the area.

However, there are benches all around the square where you can enjoy the vibe of the city, as we did, as well as many aspiring artists who could either draw your portrait or a caricature.

After our sightseeing we returned to our hotel exhausted, but at the same time very excited, since our super graduation trip has just begun!
